Eisenhower sends the 101st Airborne into Little Rock; he federalizes Arkansas's entire National Guard

For three weeks, Governor Orval Faubus had used the Arkansas National Guard to keep nine black students out of Little Rock Central High School, in defiance of a federal court order. On September 24, 1957, President Dwight Eisenhower invoked the Insurrection Act of 1807 and ordered the 101st Airborne Division into Little Rock.
