- We DO NOT collect personal information beyond what's necessary for account functionality
- We DO NOT sell your data to third parties

- Provide Services: To deliver daily historical events, quotes, flag status updates, and background images
- Account Management: To authenticate users and manage premium subscriptions
- Improve Extension: To analyze usage patterns and fix bugs

3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Where Your Data is Stored
- Local Storage: Most extension data (preferences, cached content) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API
- AWS Cloud: Account information and content (events, quotes, images) are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the United States with industry-standard encryption
3.2 Security Measures
- All API communications use HTTPS encryption
- Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard hashing algorithms
- Authentication tokens use JWT (JSON Web Tokens) with expiration
- AWS infrastructure includes DDoS protection and regular security audits
- Access to backend systems is restricted and monitored
4. Third-Party Services
PatriotCompass uses the following third-party services:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Cloud infrastructure for hosting API endpoints and data storage
- Stripe (Payment Processing): Secure payment processing for premium subscriptions (if applicable)
- PostHog (Website Analytics Only): Used only on our website (not in the extension) to understand how visitors use our site
5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Access and Control
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we have about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt-out of optional data collection
5.2 Data Retention
- Active Accounts: We retain your account data while your account is active
- Deleted Accounts: Upon account deletion, we remove your personal information within 30 days. Some anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics.
- Cached Data: Locally cached content is automatically cleared when you uninstall the extension
5.3 How to Exercise Your Rights

6. Children's Privacy
PatriotCompass is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will delete such information.
7. International Users
PatriotCompass is operated in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that information we collect will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our extension, you consent to this transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:

- Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
