Pearl Hart stops the Globe stage; she hands every passenger a dollar before she rides off

On May 30, 1899, a woman who had cut her hair short and dressed in men's clothing stopped a stagecoach near Cane Springs Canyon, about thirty miles southwest of Globe, Arizona, took $431.20 and two firearms from the passengers, then handed each one back a dollar for the road. Pearl Hart and her partner Joe Boot were caught asleep in the desert six days later by a posse from Pinal County.
